(Sara Jones and Landon Foster had just landed in L.A. a couple of hours ago. The two were siting in Sara's office on the highest floor of the Sovereign high rise building. Sara had already given her orders to the agents to prepare for Jack Ortiz's attack. The building was under lock down. No one could leave nor enter, without the acknowledgment of Sara. She stood up from her chair and walked over to the wall of windows. She placed her warm hand on the window to cool it down. She began to speak to Landon, without looking directly at him. Her tone of voice was sounded differently. Usually she spoke with confidence and maliciousness, but this time she sounded uneasy and scared.)
Winterfire: I brought you along, because I wanted to fight along side you. I'm started to have second thoughts.
Vertigo: What are you saying?
Winterfire: I'm saying you're leaving. I don't want you here when Jack arrives.
Vertigo: What!?
(Vertigo stood up and began walking toward Sara. Every step he took, Sara took one away from him. He saw this and stopped moving. She now placed her head against the window, to keep it cool.)
Winterfire: Take one of the cars and head to the Mexican border. Sadly, we don't have a Sovereign branch in Mexico. Nevertheless, you'll be safe there
Vertigo: You don't think I'm capable enough to fight against the X-men. Is that it?
Winterfire: No, its not..its just..
Vertigo: Just what. JUST WHAT!!
(Landon began walking toward Sara. This time, Sara stood her ground, but still not looking at him. As his voice intensified, Sara turned on her soles and slapped Vertigo across the face. Tears were now falling down her cheeks.)
Winterfire: I don't want to lose you!! Do you have any idea what the X-men are capable of!? Back in New York, they thrashed the falling satellite like it was a piece of scrap metal. Than there's Tank....they killed him so easily. I don't want you to fall into the same fate as him. Please leave me alone, just like everyone else.
(She turned away and leaned against the wall. Vertigo walked toward her and placed his hands on her shoulders. She didn't resist. With his right hand he began to wipe the tears.)
Vertigo: I'm going to stay right here and fight. Not for the Sovereigns, and not for its ideals, but for you.
Winterfire: A lot of people are going to die on both sides, possibly you and I. Are you willing to take that risk?
(She turned and looked into his eyes. Vertigo simply nodded and embraced her with his arms.)
Vertigo: Whatever it takes.
(Sara smiled, then the two shared their first kiss.)
Winterfire: Thank you... Let's get started on our defensive plan.

(Sara turned on her computer and activated the network link that connected the Sovereigns base to Genosha. After waiting a few minutes, Mystique connected through the video feed.)
Winterfire: Mystique, how are you?
Mystique: I'm perfectly fine. Is there something you need?
(Mystique could tell it was important, since Sara rarely talks for social matters.)
Winterfire: Yes, there is actually. I need to know if my Sentinel army is ready.
(Mystique raised her red eyebrow at the woman's request. It was only a month away from their attack, which they planned months ago. It was too early, but she had already sensed there was some danger from the look of Sara.)
Mystique: Your Sentinel army will be ready in a months time. We do however have a small number of Sentinel prototypes ready to be tested. You can use those. Now let me ask, why do you need them so soon?
Winterfire: The X-men are going to attack our L.A. base and I need the Sentinels.
Mystique: Those insolent fools!!
Winterfire: Can you send the prototypes over here, immediately?
Mystique: I'll have Blink teleport the Sentinels.
Winterfire: Thank you. Can you come over here too?
(Mystique again looked at Sara with a curious look. Sara saw this and responded before Mystique got the chance to ask.)
Winterfire: If all my defenses fall, and I fail to defeat them, then you will be my last resort.
(Mystique simply nodded, as the video feed ended and the screen slowly faded black. Sara took a deep breath, to relax. She looked over at her grandfather clock. The time had come. Jack should have arrived in the city by now. She opened a compartment in her desk and pulled out a clean glass shot. She poured her favorite drink and rose it into the air.)
Winterfire: To those that will die today.
(She drank it and than threw the glass on the floor, where it shattered to pieces.)

(Jack parked the car outside the the Police Headquarters. He got out and looked at the building. It was an awkward moment for him. It give Jack goosebumps thinking back. Four years ago he never would have imagined standing outside this building, let alone going inside. He looked at Avriletta and Pavati as the two were getting out.)
Mindcontrol: We're going to meet with the Commissioner to come up with a plan of attack. She's an old acquaintance of mine.

Pavati looked around and sighed, "It's nice to be back in California. I missed it here. Too bad it has to be for something like this." She looked over at Jack, "Are you sure that we can trust the Commissioner? No one from the government I've ever met has been too keen on helping either mutant side."

(Jack turned around and looked at Pavati.)
Mindcontrol: Sara is our enemy as much as the Commissioner is to her. This threat is bigger than one race to handle alone. We have to over come this together. Besides, she has worked with mutants in the past. So rest assure, you don't have to be nervous around her.
(Jack as feeling more nervous as he walked toward the entrance to the building. He opened the door and waited for Avriletta and Pavati to follow.)

Pavati rolled her eyes and grabbed her staff before walking inside. She never felt truly comfortable without it as it often became a tool in her water manipulations. She followed Jack inside, but she kept her head low.

Avriletta streched, her sleep wasn't very restful. She looked at her hands, her nails were acidic again, they'd be more help than the wings would any how.
"Good lord I've missed Cali!" the acid stung her hands as she attemted to wipe the excess away from her hands, "What's with the Staff?" she thought back to her previous shoulder to lean on, Varalf.

Pavati looked back at the other girl, "It was a gift from my grandfather before he passed away. He was a hydro as well. My whole family is shamanistic so it's a tradition, at least in my family, that when a person reaches 10, they are old enough to be presented with their own walking staff. Elemental mutations run deep in my families history on both sides as does the shamanism so the staff represents our elements and our totems. I never feel quite right without it."

"Hm. Cool," Ave. replied as she followed inside the building, "Kinda like when your with out wings..." she was still tired and still loathed the police. They had never come to her rescue when she needed it, "If they knew who I was they'd be drawing their guns and diving behind the desks," she stated under her breath.

Pavati raised her eyebrows, "Why do you say that? I see nothing wrong with you." Other than Liz, she had never really had any contact with someone with a physical mutation.

"My wingspan is two inches short of the longest greyhound bus, I can shoot acid out of my hands, my where the whites of my eyes should be is black and the pupil is white, I can lift two semi trucks and fly at the same time, and I used to be a bounty hunter... then there's the buildings I've accidently wrecked, and my family history." Avriletta thought for a moment, "I think that about covers it... for now. I basically look like a huge freak. You should have seen me before I was given the shot... When I get my wings back maybe I'll have my real colors back." she said thoughtfuly.

Pavati cocked her head to the side, "So your mutation is Physical? Why don't you look like you normally do now? Are you cured?" She knew of the cure... her own brother was forced to take it and after he could fly with the wind anymore, he killed himself.

(Jack walked over to one of the help desks in the lobby. The clerk was too busy typing something on the computer to pay any attention why Jack. He felt a little irritated by this. He rang the bell and she finally looked up.)
Clerk: May I help you, sir?
Mindcontrol: Yes, I'm suppose to have a meeting with the Commissioner. Can you check if she's in.
Clerk: Your name, sir?
Mindcontrol: Jack Ortiz.
(She looked at Jack strangely upon hearing his name. He feared for a second that she was going to sound the alarm. He was almost tempted to control her mind to ensure that didn't happen. The clerk slowly returned to the computer. After a few moments she returned back to Jack with a surprised look.)
Clerk: I had to confirm your supposed meeting with some of the Lieutenants. You are expected, she's in her office.
(Jack let out a sign of relief as he thanked the woman. He walked back to his teammates as he interrupted their discussion.)
Mindcontrol: Time to meet the Commissioner.

Avriletta tensed visibly as the woman behind the desk looked frightened then confirmed their appointment.
"God I hate this place. Next thing Sara burns needs to be this place." she looked over to Pavati and attempted a smile, "I'm sorry Pavati. I'm usually a bit nicer than this. It's hard to function when it feels like the body you're in isn't your own. I'm actually shorter and less... melancholy."

Pavati looked over at Avriletta, her blue eyes almost the color of ice. She seemed on edge about being in a government building and she was. She gripped her staff tighter and cleared her throat, "I understand. Sometimes I think I know exactly how that is." This was true recently. She often woke up that this wasn't the right body.
